Founded by Dr Tony Kershaw in 2010 the practice was passed over to Dr Paul Crichton in 2016. Jetty Dental has a dedicated team of staff including dentists, dental nurses and office coordinator. Situated at Coffs Harbour jetty, the practice is nestled in a hidden oasis on Edgar street.
Dr Paul Crichton graduated from the University of Queensland in 1999 with First Class Honors. Paul served as a Dental Officer in the Australian Regular Army, firstly in Townsville and then in Brisbane until 2004. He completed two overseas tours of East Timor in 2001 and 2003. Paul moved to Coffs Harbour in 2004 with his wife Selina and has since had two beautiful daughters.
Paul is passionate about all aspects of general dental practice however his specific interests lie in cosmetic dentistry, crown and bridge, implant dentistry and root canal treatment.
Outside of dentistry Paul’s big passion is offshore fishing.

General and Preventative Dentistry
- As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure
- Preventative dentistry is the modern way of helping you keep a healthy mouth
- Seeing your dentist regularly helps avoid dental decay and gum disease
- A regular preventative care appointment with your dentist will allow most dental problems to be detected and diagnosed early
- Preventative appointments include exams, X-rays, scale and clean, oral hygiene and dietary counselling, fissure sealing
- General dental procedures includes dental examinations, scale and cleans, digital radiogprahy, white fillings, oral hygiene appointments, tooth extractions, mouthguard
Teeth Whitening
- For treatment of tired, discoloured and stained teeth
- Boost your confidence, improve your smile, enhance you appearance
- Causes of discoloured teeth include aging, tea, coffee, smoking, red wine, certain medications
- Your dentist will examine you teeth and determine if teeth whitening will be a suitable and effective option for you
- Three options
1. At-home bleaching (we will prepare a take-home whitening kit of clear custom trays and whitening gel)
2. In chair bleaching (approx. 1hr in dental chair with more powerful bleach)
3. OR combination of both options
- all bleaching products contain peroxide (either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide)
Emergency
- emergencies include things such as severe tooth pain, dental abscess/infections, traumatic sporting and workplace injuries, broken teeth and fillings, wisdom teeth infections
- we understand that toothache can strike at any time
- dental emergencies can be distressing and painful
- we will attempt to treat urgent toothaches on the same day
Cosmetic Dentistry
- Cosmetic dentistry aims to create a positive to the appearance of a persons teeth, gums, bite or smile
- Includes procedures such as shaping teeth/closing spaces utilising crowns, veneers, bridgework, bonding teeth whitening, white composite resin fillings, safe removal of amalgam (metallic) restorations
- Uses a vast array of modern dental procedures
Root Canal Therapy
- It is often better to save a tooth than extract and replace it
- This is a treatment to repair and save a badly damaged and infected tooth
- This is a procedure that replaces the tooth damaged or infected pulp with a filling
- The procedure is also known as endodontic treatment
- Successful root canal treatment results in the elimination of infection and the protection of the tooth from future microbial invasion
Dental Implants
- Dental implants offer patients a fixed solution to missing teeth
- Also commonly used to assist and improve denture stability
- An implant is a titanium screw that is surgically positioned in the jawbone
- A crown is then attached to the implant to replace the missing tooth
- We work closely with several very experienced dental specialists when providing implant services to our patient
